Unbelievable news in Atlanta as this AJC report spells out the rampant cheating that has been going on in metro public school districts.  Those students found guilty should surely be punished with suspensions, right?  Oh yeah, it was not students that were caught cheating, it was the teachers.  And the buck didn’t stop there.  It went right on up to the superintendent’s office.  In all, 178 educators participated in the cheat-fest, including 38 principals.  Yes, those guys and gals that are supposed to be the leaders of the schools.  In all, 44 of 56 schools that were investigated were found to have instances of cheating.  If those numbers aren’t staggering, I don’t know what is.

Even more repulsive is the fact that educators even had cheating parties!  No, they weren’t swingers.  The only keys being collected were the answer keys so that they could be placed on transparencies to make the answer changing easier for the participants.  Maybe the cheaters needed cheaters?

This is about as bad as the widespread corruption that took place in Detroit, reported on by Dan Rather.  It’s scary to think that the future of the country lies in the hands of people like this.

While this story is not quite as earth shattering as the one I posted yesterday, I think it speaks to the lack of morals in today’s society.  The MTV factor is what I call it.  Where it’s cool or funny to be an absolute piece of trash.  MTV has made a cottage industry of this with shows like Real World, 16 and Pregnant, and everyone’s favorite, Jersey Shore.

A couple in Florida decided they would “couple” on a beach in broad daylight.  In front of 50 people.  And several children.  While this might be something you would possibly expect to see on spring break or on a senior trip to Cancun, you certainly wouldn’t want to be “exposed” to it on your family vacation.

You can tell by the look on the young woman’s face in her mugshot that she is really concerned about what she did.  It’s just all in good fun right?  No harm, no foul.  Yeah, explain that to the parents that had some serious ‘splainin’ to do to their kids after witnessing this.

Abortion Absurdity

A new WSJ book review discusses a book by Mara Hvistendahl, titled “Unnatural Selection”.  The number that will hit you in the face like an ice cold bucket of water?  163 million.  As in an estimated 163 million girls have been aborted around the world over the last three decades.  As insane as that sounds the reasoning may be even crazier.  Like Octomom crazy.  These girls were aborted simply because the family wanted a boy instead.

Not sure how accurate this is but the practice of sex-selective abortion has been known to occur in China for years so I would not be surprised if the estimate was accurate or even a little short.  May be an interesting yet disturbing read.

I’m starting a semi-serious blog discussing the seemingly ever-increasing number of news reports about people absolutely losing their minds and, as a result, the impending doom of society.  I may post other stories that interest me from time to time as well.  I’m just doing this to vent my frustrations with the way humanity seems to just not care anymore, hence the name of the blog, CivilizationTKO, or knockout, for the boxing challenged.
